Direct Recruitment Options in CBI

The most prominent option for direct recruitment in the Central Bureau of Investigation is recruitment as a Sub-Inspector. Recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector in CBI under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India is done through Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). CGL exam is conducted every year by SSC.

Candidates are selected for appointment to Group B and Group C posts in Central Government Ministries and Departments through CGL examination. Out of these posts, the post of Group B level post of sub-inspector in CBI is also one.

CBI Recruitment Qualification for Sub-Inspector

Only those candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University can appear in the SSC CGL examination to be conducted for direct recruitment of Sub-Inspector in CBI. Also, the age of the candidates should not exceed 30 years as on the cut-off date in the year of examination.

CBI Recruitment Selection Process for Sub-Inspector

The CGL exam for direct recruitment of Sub-Inspector in CBI consists of four stages – Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4. In the Tier 1 and Tier 2 examinations of the first stage, questions are asked from subjects like General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English, Statistics etc.

Successful candidates in this stage have to appear in Tier 3 written exam in which candidates have to solve detailed answer type questions. After this the final stage is Tier 4 a Computer Proficiency Test / Data Entry Skill Test.

The syllabus prescribed for different stages of CGL exam can be checked from the notification. At the same time, the list of candidates declared successful in all stages is sent by the commission to the concerned departments for appointment.

Salary of Sub-Inspector in CBI

Sub-Inspector in CBI is appointed at Group B level, working on which salary is given per month as per 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix Level 7 (Rs 44,900 to 1,42,400). Apart from this many other monthly allowances and facilities are also given.
